Gloria Galindo-New Director at Ft. Hancock ISD/Com Library!

The Ft. Hancock ISD and Community Library has a new director ...Gloria (Lily) Galindo.  She took the helm in September 2008 after the retirement of Mr. Daniel Esparza, who served so many years and was such a great supporter in the library field in Ft. Hancock. Lily, as she is fondly called, is a resident of Ft. Hancock and is currently participating in the GOAL program-College Bound scholarship.  She has found it very helpful to her as she works on her MLS degree.  The GOAL program is very pleased that Lily is a part of the 9 county area library program!  Congratulations, Lily!

LOVE IN THE LIBRARY!

Dave Howard's proposal to Valerie Richard...Valentine's Day, 2008

On Valentine's day, because we would not see each other until late that night, Dave created a scavenger hunt in the Sul Ross State University Library (where he works). We are both aspiring Librarians and both currently work at libraries (not to mention that we just love books in general) so it was appropriate that the hunt was in a library. I followed call numbers and clues to several books. There was a book of the anatomy of the heart, a children's book on the history of giving Valentines, and a philosophical discussion on love. Each one was marked with Dave's comments about the passages on love and the next clue. Eventually I was to find a key to a library meeting room, then a key to a box. Inside the box was another box, and in that box a diamond ring with Dave on his knees proposing!
We will be married next August 23, 2009 in the ghost town of Terlingua, Texas.
